Backup and Restore 701 Server and Client from old PC to new PC

Answer:

If you are planning to switch your computer or laptop and want to transfer data saved on 701 software both Server and Client, you have to do:
To back up from OLD PC
1.    Back up 701 Server (back up LAN setting)
2.    Back up 701 Client (back up saved configuration and parameter setting)
3.    Back up historical data
To restore to NEW PC
1.    Restore 701 Server (restore LAN setting)
2.    Restore 701 Client (restore saved configuration and parameter setting)
3.    Restore historical data

 

Back up from OLD PC
1.    Back up 701 Server (backup LAN setting)
this method is only compatible to software version 8.3 or higher
Step 1. Select [Setting]
Step 2. Select [Save LAN Setting]
Step 3. Select the location to save the file (must be accessible to make restore easier; ex: save to desktop)
Step 4. Rename the file into “701Server LAN Setting.lan”
Step 5. Click [Save]

Step 6. You will see the file was saved under “701Server LAN Setting.lan”file name

P.S. software before 8.3 versions, you can’t save the data and to save the LAN setting record, you can only take picture or take note.

2.    Back up 701 Client (back up saved configuration and parameter setting)
there are three option to backup data on old PC from 701 Client
Option 1:Back up data through project file option


Step 1. Select [Setting]
Step 2. Select [Project File..]


Step 3. Select [Save As.]
Step 4. Select the location to save the backup file (must be accessible to make restore easier; ex: save to desktop)
Step 5. Rename the file name and remove ‘*’ from the file name otherwise it can’t be saved
Step 6. Click [Save]

Option 2:Back up data through backup and restore option
1. Select [Setting]
2. Select [BackUp Re..]

Step 3. Select [File Path] and select which location to save the file (must be accessible to make restore easier; ex: save to desktop)
Step 4. Click [Done]
Step 5. Select [Backup]

Option 3:Copy all Default files in 701Client folder from old PC and Paste into 701Client folder on the new PC

3.    Back up historical data
to back up the data such as .msg and .dut, just copy ALL saved data in 701 Server old PC and paste into 701Server folder on the new PC

Before restoring backed up data to NEW PC, make sure to download and install 701 Server and Client beforehand. After that transfer the back up files into the NEW PC and restore.
it is strongly suggested to download and install the latest version.

Restore to NEW PC
1.    Restore 701 Server (restore LAN setting)
Step 1. Select [Setting]
Step 2. Select [Load LAN Setting]
Step 3. Select file [701Server LAN Setting.lan]
Step 4. Click [Open]

Step 5. Saved LAN setting will appear on LAN option

P.S. software before 8.3 versions, you can’t save the data and to save the LAN setting record, you can only take picture or take note and manually do the set up again.

2.    Restore 701 Client (restore saved configuration and parameter setting)
There are three option to restore and which one you choose is depend on which option you choose when back up the data.
if you are selecting option 1 from back up 701 client setting, then for restore please refer to option 1 only.
Option 1:Restore data through project file option
Step 1. Select [Setting]
Step 2. Select [Project File..]

Step 3. Select [Load]
Step 4. Select the location where you stored the back up file
Step 5. Select the file
Step 6. Select [Open], all saved configuration and parameter setting will restore back

Option 2:Restore data through backup and restore option
Step 1. Select [Setting]
Step 2. Select [BackUp Re..]

Step 3. Select [File Path] and select which location you saved the file
Step 4. Click [Done]
Step 5. Select [Restore]

Option 3:After Copying all Default files in 701 Client folder from old PC, paste into 701 Client folder on the new PC

3.    Back up historical data
To restore .msg and .dut files, after copying ALL saved data in 701 Server old PC, paste into 701Server folder on the new PC
